Sandra Boyd
Sandra Boyd joined Brave Hearts in October 2012 and became a very active member of the Dragon Boat Club for many years, as both a supportive leisure paddler and an experienced regatta participant. Sandy attending both Aus Champs in Perth and Adelaide as a member of Brave Hearts Team and in 2018 travelled to Kununurra as part of the team competing in the Ord River Marathon. Sandy was elected to the Brave Hearts on the Murray Inc committee as Treasurer in 2015, a position she carried out with expertise until 2019. She remains on the committee as a very active committee member. Sandy is often the first to put up her hand to be part of a subcommittee to assist with the organisation of fundraising event or is always willing to attend and support social or fundraising events. In 2017 Sandy took on the role of Coordinator of the 10th Brave Hearts Community Regatta. She led the planning committee to the running of a very successful, fun and friendly Community Regatta, raising funds and awareness for both the Brave Hearts Dragon Boat Club and Brave Hearts on the Murray Inc. Sandy also helped co- coordinate subsequent regatta events including the Dragon Boat Victorian State Championships. Sandy has constantly been a caring and supportive person to all members of the Brave Hearts community. She generously offers and shares her IT expertise with anyone having difficulties in this field, offering assistance where needed, no matter what the task. On many occasions, Sandy has also created public awareness of the Brave Hearts’ cause through the media, attending events and public speaking at functions. Overall, Sandy has given substantial service to Brave Hearts and continually displays acts of support, kindness, and awareness. She hence is indisputably a worthy recipient of the Brave Hearts Silver Heart Award. |
